Grace's Glossary
These words, sayings and phrases are not used primarily by me in any way shape or form. However, they’re probably going to be used a lot in all my posts so if you ever need a reference guide please see below. This is an ever evolving list and I’ll be adding as we go.
Calm Down/Relax: Please don’t take this literally. It’s just me telling you to hold whatever judgement that may have crossed your mind when you read the sentence before.
Dry Down: We love a technical term! When a scent literally dries down it can sometimes smell different on initial spray. The base notes come forward and this is truly how it will wear on your skin. Don’t judge a fragrance just by sniffing it.
Erika Jayne: If you’re not a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fan this name might be meaningless to you. She also has a dance music career and two of her most famous songs are “How Many F***s” and “It’s Expensive To Be Me.” Need I say more? Just don’t google her legal issues but if you must know she’s innocent!
Low Key High Maintenance: I always say I’m low key high maintenance because it subtly suggests I am in fact high maintenance but in a chill way okay? I feel like the term got a bad rep and we all should own it. Are we high maintenance or do we just have standards for ourselves? I’ll save that thought for a newsletter.
Mini-Break: Another U.K saying for a quick trip that is usually a few days or over a weekend. I tend to use it for weekend getaways close to where I live. E.g “We’re going on a mini-break to Connecticut this weekend.”
Naff: Used more in the U.K naff is used to illustrate when something lacks taste, looks cheap or is overall tacky. Not a good thing!
O.T.T: Quite literally means, ‘over the top.’ I think this is used more in the U.K but I use it when I really want to explain that something is gloriously over the top.
Strap In! I feel like this is self explanatory but when you read those words I want you to picture Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada when he screams, “Gird Your Loins!”
